The COVID-19 pandemic has proven to be a game changer for individuals and corporations alike, forever reshaping our lives as well as ways of working. As everyone adapts to the new normal, a common theme observed among the few businesses which emerged stronger from the pandemic is their vision to transform themselves amidst the disruptive changes brought about by COVID.
When Dr. Eugene Yuo Hao Chooi first took over the HT Lee Clinic in 2017, an established community clinic which has been in operation for over 40 years, little did he know that a virus would turn the healthcare sector upside down in 2020. But as the needs of the community shifted along with the waves of COVID, he made a bold move to reinvent HT Lee Clinic in the thick of the pandemic in 2021 to better serve his patients. The decision was not without its challenges, as Dr. Eugene Yuo had to manage financial restraints and construction delays during the reinvention effort.
Finally in 2022, the clinic was successfully rebranded to MedicVac with a new office and operating model. Located just a stone’s throw from where HT Lee clinic was, the new clinic bears many enhancements in its facilities and services. Hardware upgrades include a comfortable waiting area for patients, and prominent signage visible on the well-travelled Jalan Cheras in Kuala Lumpur city centre. More importantly for service upgrades, patient info and medical histories have been systematically digitised for more efficient and secure data management. Together these changes aim to improve the access of quality yet affordable medicine and medical information to the public, particularly the Cheras community.

Today, MedicVac Clinic is fully operational every day of the week except Sunday from 8am – 6pm, with break time at 12-2pm. The clinic offers consultancy and treatment for chronic diseases such as metabolic syndrome, hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, shingles treatment, chronic wound care, gastro-related diseases, eczema, as well as other acute diseases such as common flu, cough and fever. MedicVac is also an authorised dealer for smith-meyerlab products. It is fully managed and operated by Dr. Eugene Yuo, who has MBBS and Master in Medicine (Gastroenterology), and used to serve as Senior Medical Officer and a junior specialist in the gastroenterology department in the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
